| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Chapter 91, Transportation Code, is amended by | |
| 12 | 12 | adding Subchapter G to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | SUBCHAPTER G. HIGH-SPEED RAIL | |
| 14 | 14 | Sec. 91.130. DEFINITION. In this subchapter, "high-speed | |
| 15 | 15 | rail" means intercity passenger rail service that is reasonably | |
| 16 | 16 | expected to reach speeds of at least 110 miles per hour. | |
| 17 | 17 | Sec. 91.131. CONSTRUCTION OF HIGH-SPEED RAIL. The | |
| 18 | 18 | department shall enter into a comprehensive development agreement | |
| 19 | 19 | with a private entity to construct, maintain, and operate | |
| 20 | 20 | high-speed rail connecting Dallas to Austin to San Antonio along | |
| 21 | 21 | the Interstate Highway 35 corridor. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. Section 199.003, Transportation Code, is | |
| 23 | 23 | repealed. | |
| 24 | 24 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
