11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 501, Government Code, is | |
13 | 13 | amended by adding Section 501.028 to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 501.028. TEMPERATURE REQUIREMENTS AT DEPARTMENT | |
15 | 15 | FACILITIES. The department shall ensure that the temperature in | |
16 | 16 | each facility operated by the department is maintained at not less | |
17 | 17 | than 65 degrees Fahrenheit or more than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 2. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice is not | |
19 | 19 | required to comply with the requirements of Section 501.028, | |
20 | 20 | Government Code, as added by this Act, until September 1, 2026. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
