| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 392, Local Government | |
| 13 | 13 | Code, is amended by adding Section 392.0566 to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | Sec. 392.0566. PROCUREMENT PROCEDURES FOR CERTAIN | |
| 15 | 15 | MUNICIPAL HOUSING AUTHORITIES. Notwithstanding any other law, a | |
| 16 | 16 | municipal housing authority described by Section 392.0162 is | |
| 17 | 17 | required to comply with competitive procurement procedures | |
| 18 | 18 | applicable to municipal housing authorities only when making a | |
| 19 | 19 | purchase requiring the expenditure of an amount that is more than | |
| 20 | 20 | the simplified acquisition threshold as defined by the Federal | |
| 21 | 21 | Acquisition Regulation (48 C.F.R. Section 2.101) or a successor | |
| 22 | 22 | regulation. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
| 24 | 24 | to a purchase made on or after the effective date of this Act. A | |
| 25 | 25 | purchase made before the effective date of this Act is governed by | |
| 26 | 26 | the law as it existed immediately before the effective date of this | |
| 27 | 27 | Act, and that law is continued in effect for that purpose. | |
| 28 | 28 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
