8 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

9 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter (B), Section 141.0031, Election Code, |
---|
10 | 12 | | is amended by adding Subsections (N) and (O) to read as follows: |
---|
11 | 13 | | (4) include: |
---|
12 | 14 | | (A) the candidate's name; |
---|
13 | 15 | | (B) the candidate's occupation; |
---|
14 | 16 | | (C) the office sought, including any place number or |
---|
15 | 17 | | other distinguishing number; |
---|
16 | 18 | | (D) an indication of whether the office sought is to be |
---|
17 | 19 | | filled for a full or unexpired term if the office sought and another |
---|
18 | 20 | | office to be voted on have the same title but do not have place |
---|
19 | 21 | | numbers or other distinguishing numbers; |
---|
20 | 22 | | (E) a statement that the candidate is a United States |
---|
21 | 23 | | citizen; |
---|
22 | 24 | | (F) a statement that the candidate has not been |
---|
23 | 25 | | determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate |
---|
24 | 26 | | jurisdiction to be: |
---|
25 | 27 | | (i) totally mentally incapacitated; or |
---|
26 | 28 | | (ii) partially mentally incapacitated without the |
---|
27 | 29 | | right to vote; |
---|
28 | 30 | | (G) an indication that the candidate has either not |
---|
29 | 31 | | been finally convicted of a felony or if so convicted has been |
---|
30 | 32 | | pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities; |
---|
31 | 33 | | (H) the candidate's date of birth; |
---|
32 | 34 | | (I) the candidate's residence address or, if the |
---|
33 | 35 | | residence has no address, the address at which the candidate |
---|
34 | 36 | | receives mail and a concise description of the location of the |
---|
35 | 37 | | candidate's residence; |
---|
36 | 38 | | (J) the candidate's length of continuous residence in |
---|
37 | 39 | | the state and in the territory from which the office sought is |
---|
38 | 40 | | elected as of the date the candidate swears to the application; |
---|
39 | 41 | | (K) the statement: "I, __________, of __________ |
---|
40 | 42 | | County, Texas, being a candidate for the office of __________, |
---|
41 | 43 | | swear that I will support and defend the constitution and laws of |
---|
42 | 44 | | the United States and of the State of Texas"; |
---|
43 | 45 | | (L) a statement that the candidate is aware of the |
---|
44 | 46 | | nepotism law, Chapter 573, Government Code; and |
---|
45 | 47 | | (M) a public mailing address at which the candidate |
---|
46 | 48 | | receives correspondence relating to the candidate's campaign, if |
---|
47 | 49 | | available, and an electronic mail address at which the candidate |
---|
48 | 50 | | receives correspondence relating to the candidate's campaign, if |
---|
49 | 51 | | available. |
---|
50 | 52 | | (N) whether the candidate has any citizenship of any |
---|
51 | 53 | | nation except the United States or a federally recognized Indian |
---|
52 | 54 | | tribe. The question must also require the candidate to list their |
---|
53 | 55 | | other nation or nations of citizenship, as applicable. |
---|
54 | 56 | | (O) The information required in subsection (4)(N) must |
---|
55 | 57 | | be posted online in a publicly available place by the secretary of |
---|
56 | 58 | | state. |
---|
57 | 59 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies only to a candidate in an |
---|
58 | 60 | | election held on or after the effective date of this Act. |
---|
59 | 61 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
