| 12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 13 | 13 | SECTION 1. The heading to Section 21.006, Local Government | |
| 14 | 14 | Code, is amended to read as follows: | |
| 15 | 15 | Sec. 21.006. ELECTION OF CERTAIN MEMBERS OF [ENTIRE] | |
| 16 | 16 | GOVERNING BODY UPON APPORTIONMENT. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. Section 21.006(a), Local Government Code, is | |
| 18 | 18 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 19 | 19 | (a) A municipality that is divided into districts, wards, or | |
| 20 | 20 | other areas from which members of its governing body are elected | |
| 21 | 21 | shall elect each of those [all] members of the municipality's | |
| 22 | 22 | governing body that represents single-member districts, wards, or | |
| 23 | 23 | other areas following each apportionment. The election must be | |
| 24 | 24 | held on the first uniform election date that allows sufficient time | |
| 25 | 25 | to comply with any requirements of law. | |
| 26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
