| 8 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 46.03, Penal Code, is amended by adding |

| 10 | 12 | | Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: |

| 11 | 13 | | (a-1) Notwithstanding Section 46.02(a-5), a person commits |
|---|
| 12 | 14 | | an offense if the person carries on the premises of a public library |
|---|
| 13 | 15 | | a partially or wholly visible: |
|---|
| 14 | 16 | | (1) location-restricted knife, club, or prohibited |
|---|
| 15 | 17 | | weapon listed in Section 46.05(a); or |
|---|
| 16 | 18 | | (2) handgun, regardless of whether the handgun is |
|---|
| 17 | 19 | | holstered and regardless of whether the handgun is carried under |
|---|
| 18 | 20 | | the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code. |
|---|
| 19 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
