11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter L, Chapter 441, Government Code, is |
---|
13 | 13 | | amended by adding Section 441.206 to read as follows: |
---|
14 | 14 | | Sec. 441.206. PLAN TO DISPLAY HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS IN |
---|
15 | 15 | | CAPITOL COMPLEX. (a) The commission, in collaboration with the |
---|
16 | 16 | | State Preservation Board and other state agencies responsible for |
---|
17 | 17 | | the care and custody of historical documents and as the commission |
---|
18 | 18 | | determines appropriate, shall develop a plan to display in the |
---|
19 | 19 | | Capitol Complex the following documents: |
---|
20 | 20 | | (1) the victory or death letter written by Lieutenant |
---|
21 | 21 | | Colonel William Barret Travis dated February 24, 1836; |
---|
22 | 22 | | (2) the Texas Declaration of Independence; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | (3) the Texas Constitution. |
---|
24 | 24 | | (b) Not later than December 1, 2027, the commission shall: |
---|
25 | 25 | | (1) develop the plan as described by Subsection (a); |
---|
26 | 26 | | (2) publish the plan on the commission's Internet |
---|
27 | 27 | | website; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | (3) provide a copy of the plan to the standing |
---|
29 | 29 | | committees of each house of the legislature that have jurisdiction |
---|
30 | 30 | | over the state's historical resources. |
---|
31 | 31 | | (c) This section expires September 1, 2031. |
---|
32 | 32 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
