8 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

9 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 545.453, Transportation Code, is amended |
---|
10 | 12 | | by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |

11 | 13 | | (c) Notwithstanding any other law, when an automated |
---|
12 | 14 | | driving system installed on a motor vehicle is engaged, the |
---|
13 | 15 | | manufacturer of the automated driving system is considered the |
---|
14 | 16 | | operator of the automated vehicle solely for the purpose of |
---|
15 | 17 | | determining liability in the event of a collision involving the |
---|
16 | 18 | | automated vehicle. |

17 | 19 | | SECTION 2. Section 545.453(c), Transportation Code, as |
---|
18 | 20 | | added by this Act, applies only to a cause of action that accrues on |
---|
19 | 21 | | or after the effective date of this Act. |
---|
20 | 22 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
