10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 262, Local Government |
---|
12 | 12 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 262.0117 to read as follows: |

13 | 13 | | Sec. 262.0117. ADDITIONAL COUNTY PURCHASING AGENT |
---|
14 | 14 | | AUTHORITY IN COUNTIES WITH POPULATION OF MORE THAN 250,000. (a) |
---|
15 | 15 | | This section applies only to a county with a population of more than |
---|
16 | 16 | | 250,000. |
---|
17 | 17 | | (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of this subchapter, |
---|
18 | 18 | | the commissioners court of a county by order may: |
---|
19 | 19 | | (1) abolish the office of a purchasing agent appointed |
---|
20 | 20 | | under Section 262.011; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | (2) employ a person to act as county purchasing agent |
---|
22 | 22 | | under Section 262.0115. |
---|
23 | 23 | | (c) The term of any purchasing agent whose office is |
---|
24 | 24 | | abolished under Subsection (b)(1) expires on the date provided in |
---|
25 | 25 | | the order. A purchasing agent whose term expires under this |
---|
26 | 26 | | subsection is eligible to be employed as a county purchasing agent |
---|
27 | 27 | | under Subsection (b)(2). |
---|
28 | 28 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
29 | 29 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
30 | 30 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
31 | 31 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
32 | 32 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
