88 AN ACT
99 relating to county purchasing agents in certain counties.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 262, Local Government
1212 Code, is amended by adding Section 262.0117 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 262.0117. ADDITIONAL COUNTY PURCHASING AGENT
1414 AUTHORITY IN COUNTIES WITH POPULATION OF MORE THAN 250,000. (a)
1515 This section applies only to a county with a population of more than
1616 250,000.
1717 (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of this subchapter,
1818 the commissioners court of a county by order may:
1919 (1) abolish the office of a purchasing agent appointed
2020 under Section 262.011; and
2121 (2) employ a person to act as county purchasing agent
2222 under Section 262.0115.
2323 (c) The term of any purchasing agent whose office is
2424 abolished under Subsection (b)(1) expires on the date provided in
2525 the order. A purchasing agent whose term expires under this
2626 subsection is eligible to be employed as a county purchasing agent
2727 under Subsection (b)(2).
2828 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2929 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3030 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3131 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3232 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
