12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C-1, Chapter 22, Education Code, is |
---|
14 | 14 | | amended by adding Section 22.0933 to read as follows: |

15 | 15 | | Sec. 22.0933. PARENTAL CONSENT FOR STUDENT INTERVIEW |
---|
16 | 16 | | REGARDING EMPLOYEE MISCONDUCT. A school district, district of |
---|
17 | 17 | | innovation, open-enrollment charter school, other charter entity, |
---|
18 | 18 | | regional education service center, or shared services arrangement |
---|
19 | 19 | | must obtain consent from the parent of or person standing in |
---|
20 | 20 | | parental relation to a student before interviewing the student |
---|
21 | 21 | | regarding an alleged incident of misconduct by a district, school, |
---|
22 | 22 | | entity, service center, or arrangement employee. |
---|
23 | 23 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 |
---|
24 | 24 | | school year. |
---|
25 | 25 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
26 | 26 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
27 | 27 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
28 | 28 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
29 | 29 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
