11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 26.408(b), Water Code, is amended to | |
13 | 13 | read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (b) As soon as practicable but not [Not] later than the 30th | |
15 | 15 | day after the date the commission receives notice under Subsection | |
16 | 16 | (a) or obtains independent knowledge of groundwater contamination, | |
17 | 17 | the commission shall make every effort to give notice of the | |
18 | 18 | contamination by first class mail, e-mail, notice placed on the | |
19 | 19 | door of a residence, or another effective delivery method to: | |
20 | 20 | (1) each owner of a private drinking water well that | |
21 | 21 | may be affected by the contamination; | |
22 | 22 | (2) [and to] each applicable groundwater conservation | |
23 | 23 | district; and | |
24 | 24 | (3) the residents of each residential address within | |
25 | 25 | one mile of the site of the contamination. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
