| 12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter E-2, Chapter 51, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | amended by adding Section 51.260 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Sec. 51.260. ADDITIONAL SEXUAL ASSAULT REPORTING AND |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | PLANNING REQUIREMENTS. (a) In this section, "institution of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | higher education" has the meaning assigned by Section 61.003. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (b) Not later than June 1 of each even-numbered year, an |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | institution of higher education, in consultation with appropriate |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | law enforcement entities, shall prepare and submit to the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | coordinating board a written report that includes: |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (1) information on incidents of sexual assault |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | occurring within a two-mile radius of a campus of the institution |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | during the preceding two years, including the rate of those |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | incidents; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (2) a detailed plan to reduce the rate described by |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Subdivision (1). |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (c) Not later than January 1 of each odd-numbered year, the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | coordinating board shall prepare and submit to the legislature a |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | written report that summarizes the most recent reports submitted by |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | institutions of higher education under Subsection (b). The report |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | must include any recommendations for legislative or other action to |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | reduce the rates of sexual assault occurring near the campuses of |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | institutions of higher education. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
