| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 302, Labor Code, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended by adding Section 302.0048 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 302.0048. SUBSIDIZED CHILD-CARE PROGRAM; RULES. (a) |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | For the purposes of determining an individual's eligibility for |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | subsidized child care, the commission shall include the following |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | courses or programs as approved educational programs and job |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | training: |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (1) general educational development (GED) test |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | preparation courses or programs; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (2) adult education programs provided under the adult |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | high school charter school program under Subchapter G, Chapter 12, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Education Code; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (3) English as a second language (ESL) courses or |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | programs; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (4) job training programs; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (5) any other courses or programs at an accredited |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | postsecondary educational institution, including a public or |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | private junior college, a public or private institution of higher |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | education, or a public or private technical institution or at a |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | career school or college as defined by Section 132.001, Education |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Code, regardless of whether the individual earns academic credit |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | for the course or program. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | (b) The commission may adopt rules necessary to administer |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | this section. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
