77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the basis for a third-party challenge to a voter's
1010 registration.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 16.092, Election Code, is amended to
1313 read as follows:
1414 Sec. 16.092. SWORN STATEMENT REQUIRED. A voter desiring to
1515 challenge a registration must file with the registrar a sworn
1616 statement of the grounds for the challenge that:
1717 (1) identifies the voter whose registration is being
1818 challenged; and
1919 (2) states a specific qualification for registration
2020 that the challenged voter has not met based on:
2121 (A) the personal knowledge of the voter desiring
2222 to challenge the registration; or
2323 (B) a fact not subject to reasonable dispute
2424 because the fact is generally known or can be determined from a
2525 reliable source.
2626 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
