8 | 8 | relating to the amount of an expenditure that is exempt from the | |
9 | 9 | provisions of the Texas Engineering Practice Act. | |
10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 1001.053, Occupations Code, is amended | |
12 | 12 | to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 1001.053. PUBLIC WORKS. The following work is exempt | |
14 | 14 | from this chapter: | |
15 | 15 | (1) a public work that involves electrical or | |
16 | 16 | mechanical engineering, if the contemplated expense for the | |
17 | 17 | completed project is $8,000 or less; | |
18 | 18 | (2) a public work that does not involve electrical or | |
19 | 19 | mechanical engineering, if the contemplated expense for the | |
20 | 20 | completed project is $100,000 [$20,000] or less; or | |
21 | 21 | (3) road maintenance or improvement undertaken by the | |
22 | 22 | commissioners court of a county. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to | |
24 | 24 | a public work project initiated on or after the effective date of | |
25 | 25 | this Act. A public work project initiated before the effective date | |
26 | 26 | of this Act is governed by the law as it existed immediately before | |
27 | 27 | the effective date of this Act, and that law is continued in effect | |
28 | 28 | for that purpose. | |
29 | 29 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
