11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 261.001, Family Code, is amended by | |
13 | 13 | adding Subdivision (3-a) to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (3-a) "Medical provider" means an individual who is licensed, | |
15 | 15 | certified, or otherwise authorized to provide health care services | |
16 | 16 | in this state. The term includes a midwife, as defined by Section | |
17 | 17 | 203.002, Occupations Code, and a nurse midwife as described by | |
18 | 18 | Section 301.152, Occupations Code. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
