| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 824.001, Government Code is amended as | |
| 11 | 11 | to read follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 824.001. TYPES OF BENEFITS. The types of benefits | |
| 13 | 13 | payable or deducted by the retirement system are: | |
| 14 | 14 | (1) service retirement benefits; | |
| 15 | 15 | (2) disability retirement benefits; and | |
| 16 | 16 | (3) death benefits.; and | |
| 17 | 17 | (4) benefits approved by the board. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 19 | 19 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 20 | 20 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 22 | 22 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
