66 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
77 AN ACT
88 relating to waivers permitting non-certified drivers to operate in
99 partnership with state-certified emergency medical personnel.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Chapter 773, Health and Safety Code, is amended
1212 by adding the following section:
1313 SECTION 773.055 EXTENSION OF NON-CERTIFIED DRIVING
1414 WAIVERS:(a) Any existing state waivers or emergency orders that
1515 allow non-certified individuals to serve as drivers for emergency
1616 medical services operations in partnership with state-certified
1717 emergency medical technicians and paramedics shall continue
1818 without requirements of variance requests after initial approval.
1919 (b) Any state waivers or emergency orders that allow
2020 non-certified individuals to serve as drivers for emergency medical
2121 services operations in partnership with state-certified emergency
2222 medical technicians and paramedics approved after the effective
2323 date of this Act shall continue without requirements of variance
2424 requests.
2525 (c) The Texas Department of State Health Services may issue
2626 rules to comply with this Act to ensure that providers understand
2727 updated requirements with the certification.
2828 SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Act takes effect September
2929 1, 2025.
