10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 572.057, Local Government Code, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (f) to | |
13 | 13 | read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (b) Except as provided by Subsection (f), each [Each] | |
15 | 15 | director must be appointed by place by the governing bodies of the | |
16 | 16 | participating public entities. Each participating public entity is | |
17 | 17 | entitled to appoint at least one director. | |
18 | 18 | (f) In addition to the directors provided for in Subsection | |
19 | 19 | (b), for a public utility agency that is located both in the county | |
20 | 20 | that contains the Capitol, and in a county that is adjacent to the | |
21 | 21 | county that contains the Capitol, one director will be elected by | |
22 | 22 | the qualified voters of the respective county, for each county | |
23 | 23 | under this Subsection. For the purposes of this Subsection, “ | |
24 | 24 | qualified voter” means a registered voter of the county underlying | |
25 | 25 | the public utility agency’s service area who resides within the | |
26 | 26 | service area. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2027. |
