11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 79.001(8-a), Government Code, is amended | |
13 | 13 | to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (8-a) "Family protection services" means services | |
15 | 15 | provided under this chapter, including services subject to the | |
16 | 16 | Family First Prevention Services Act (Title VII, Div. E, Pub. L. | |
17 | 17 | No. 115-123), by an attorney, attorney ad litem, licensed | |
18 | 18 | investigator, social worker, forensic expert, mental health | |
19 | 19 | expert, or other similar expert or specialist to an indigent parent | |
20 | 20 | or child in: | |
21 | 21 | (A) a suit filed by the department against the | |
22 | 22 | parent; or | |
23 | 23 | (B) a department investigation of the parent. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
