| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Chapter 46, Penal Code, is amended by adding | |
| 13 | 13 | Section 46.055 to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | Sec. 46.055. UNLAWFUL TRANSFER OF SEMIAUTOMATIC RIFLE. (a) | |
| 15 | 15 | A person commits an offense if the person knowingly sells, rents, | |
| 16 | 16 | leases, or otherwise transfers, or offers to sell, rent, lease, or | |
| 17 | 17 | otherwise transfer a semiautomatic rifle. | |
| 18 | 18 | (b) An offense under this section is a state jail felony. | |
| 19 | 19 | (c) If conduct that constitutes an offense under this | |
| 20 | 20 | section also constitutes an offense under any other law, the actor | |
| 21 | 21 | may be prosecuted under this section, the other law, or both. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
