68 AN ACT
79 relating to the renewal of a license to carry a handgun.
810 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
911 SECTION 1. Section 411.185(a), Government Code, is amended
1012 to read as follows:
1113 (a) To renew a license, a license holder must, on or before
1214 the first anniversary of the date the license expires, submit to the
1315 department by mail or, in accordance with the procedure adopted
1416 under Subsection (f), on the Internet:
1517 (1) a renewal application on a form provided by the
1618 department;
1719 (2) payment of a nonrefundable renewal fee of $40; and
1820 (3) the informational form described by Subsection (c)
1921 signed or electronically acknowledged by the applicant.
2022 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a
2123 handgun license that expires before, on, or after the effective
2224 date of this Act.
2325 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2426 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2527 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2628 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2729 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
