| 12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Section 250.007(b), Local Government Code, is | |
| 14 | 14 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 15 | 15 | (b) This section does not affect an ordinance or regulation | |
| 16 | 16 | that prohibits the refusal to lease or rent a housing accommodation | |
| 17 | 17 | to: | |
| 18 | 18 | (1) a military veteran because of the veteran's lawful | |
| 19 | 19 | source of income to pay rent; | |
| 20 | 20 | (2) a person who is 62 years of age or older because of | |
| 21 | 21 | the person's lawful source of income to pay rent; or | |
| 22 | 22 | (3) a person who has a disability, as defined by the | |
| 23 | 23 | Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. Section 12101 et | |
| 24 | 24 | seq.), because of the person's lawful source of income to pay rent. | |
| 25 | 25 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
