88 AN ACT
99 relating to the use of parental child safety placements.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter L, Chapter 264, Family Code, is
1212 amended by adding Section 264.908 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 264.908. USE OF PARENTAL CHILD SAFETY PLACEMENTS. (a)
1414 Notwithstanding other law, the department shall use a parental
1515 child safety placement in each case in which the department
1616 determines it is appropriate.
1717 (b) If the department determines that a parental child
1818 safety placement is not appropriate, the department shall:
1919 (1) record in writing in the child's case file the
2020 reasons the department determined a parental child safety placement
2121 was not appropriate; and
2222 (2) notify the child's state representative and state
2323 senator about the department's decision and the reasons the
2424 department determined a parental child safety placement was not
2525 appropriate.
2626 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
