| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 312.016, Government Code, is amended by | |
| 11 | 11 | adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (d) This state, acting as authorized under federal law, | |
| 13 | 13 | shall observe daylight saving time year-round. This subsection | |
| 14 | 14 | applies to both the portion of this state using central standard | |
| 15 | 15 | time as the official standard time and the portion of this state | |
| 16 | 16 | using mountain standard time as the official standard time. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. (a) Except as otherwise provided by this | |
| 18 | 18 | section, this Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | |
| 19 | 19 | (b) This Act takes effect only if the United States Congress | |
| 20 | 20 | enacts legislation that becomes law that authorizes the State of | |
| 21 | 21 | Texas to observe daylight saving time year-round. If the United | |
| 22 | 22 | States Congress does not enact legislation that becomes law | |
| 23 | 23 | described by this subsection, this Act has no effect. |
