88 AN ACT
99 relating to the adoption of a certain plumbing code by the Texas
1010 State Board of Plumbing Examiners.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. The heading to Section 1301.255, Occupations
1313 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1414 Sec. 1301.255. ADOPTION OF PLUMBING [CODES] CODE.
1515 SECTION 2. Sections 1301.255(a), (b), and (d), Occupations
1616 Code, are amended to read as follows:
1717 (a) The board shall adopt [the following plumbing codes, as
1818 those codes existed on May 31, 2001:
1919 [(1) the Uniform Plumbing Code, as published by the
2020 International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials;
2121 and
2222 [(2)] the 2015 edition of the International Plumbing
2323 Code, as published by the International Code Council.
2424 (b) The board by rule may adopt a later edition [editions]
2525 of the plumbing code [codes] listed in Subsection (a).
2626 (d) In adopting a code for the design, installation, and
2727 maintenance of a plumbing system under this section, a municipality
2828 or an owner of a public water system may amend any provisions of the
2929 code to conform to local concerns that do not substantially vary
3030 from board rules or conflict with state law [other rules of this
3131 state].
3232 SECTION 3. Not later than December 1, 2025, the Texas State
3333 Board of Plumbing Examiners shall adopt rules to implement Section
3434 1301.255, Occupations Code, as amended by this Act.
3535 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
