11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Chapter 437, Health and Safety Code, is amended | |
13 | 13 | by adding Section 437.029 to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 437.029. IMPORTED SHRIMP NOTICE. (a) A food service | |
15 | 15 | establishment serving shrimp imported from outside of the United | |
16 | 16 | States shall provide to customers of the establishment notice of | |
17 | 17 | the shrimp's importation. The establishment must provide the notice | |
18 | 18 | by: | |
19 | 19 | (1) posting the notice in a conspicuous place in an | |
20 | 20 | area of the establishment accessible to the customers; or | |
21 | 21 | (2) placing the notice on the establishment's food | |
22 | 22 | menu. | |
23 | 23 | (b) The executive commissioner shall adopt rules necessary | |
24 | 24 | to implement this section. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 2. Notwithstanding Section 437.029, Health and | |
26 | 26 | Safety Code, as added by this Act, a food service establishment is | |
27 | 27 | not required to comply with that section before March 1, 2026. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
