11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 28.009, Education Code, is amended by | |
13 | 13 | adding Subsection (a-6) to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (a-6) A governmental entity or state officer may not | |
15 | 15 | prohibit a course or any instructional component of a course from | |
16 | 16 | being offered at a high school if an accredited institution of | |
17 | 17 | higher education in this state awards course credit in the subject | |
18 | 18 | for the achievement of a required score on a College-Level | |
19 | 19 | Examination Program examination, an advanced placement test, or an | |
20 | 20 | international baccalaureate examination. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 | |
22 | 22 | school year. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
24 | 24 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
25 | 25 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
26 | 26 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
27 | 27 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
