11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 32, Election Code, is | |
13 | 13 | amended by adding Section 32.116 to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 32.116. REQUIRED TRAINING RELATED TO ACCEPTING VOTERS | |
15 | 15 | WHO IDENTIFY AS TRANSGENDER. Each program, standard, or material | |
16 | 16 | for any training developed under this subchapter must include: | |
17 | 17 | (1) guidance for election workers to accept photo | |
18 | 18 | identification that may not align with a person's presenting gender | |
19 | 19 | expression or identity; and | |
20 | 20 | (2) information about voters who identify as | |
21 | 21 | transgender and their historical disenfranchisement. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. Section 63.0101, Election Code, is amended by | |
23 | 23 | adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | |
24 | 24 | (e) An indication of gender on a form of identification | |
25 | 25 | described by this section that does not align with the gender | |
26 | 26 | expression or identity of the person seeking to vote does not | |
27 | 27 | invalidate the form of identification for the purpose of accepting | |
28 | 28 | a voter for voting. | |
29 | 29 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
