| 9 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 532.001(b), Health and Safety Code, is |

| 11 | 13 | | amended to read as follows: |

| 12 | 14 | | (b) The department includes community services operated by |
|---|
| 13 | 15 | | the department and the following facilities: |
|---|
| 14 | 16 | | (1) the central office of the department; |
|---|
| 15 | 17 | | (2) the Austin State Hospital; |
|---|
| 16 | 18 | | (3) the Big Spring State Hospital; |
|---|
| 17 | 19 | | (4) the Kerrville State Hospital; |
|---|
| 18 | 20 | | (5) the Rusk State Hospital; |
|---|
| 19 | 21 | | (6) the San Antonio State Hospital; |
|---|
| 20 | 22 | | (7) the Terrell State Hospital; |

| 21 | 23 | | (8) the Vernon [North Texas] State Hospital; |

| 44 | 46 | | SECTION 3. Subchapter E, Chapter 552, Health and Safety |

| 46 | 48 | | Sec. 552.154. STATE HOSPITAL SUPERINTENDENT. The executive |

| 47 | 49 | | commissioner by rule shall require each state hospital to employ a |
|---|
| 48 | 50 | | superintendent. |

| 49 | 51 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
