77 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
88 WHEREAS, El Paso has long been known for its rich cultural
99 heritage, dynamic economy, and distinctive traditions, and it has
1010 gained a global reputation as a center for boot making; and
1111 WHEREAS, The city is home to iconic boot manufacturers such
1212 as Lucchese, Rocketbuster, Caboots, and Tony Lama, along with a
1313 host of other renowned businesses that have contributed to
1414 El Paso's growing influence as a leader in producing premier
1515 Western footwear; and
1616 WHEREAS, El Paso's array of boot makers includes multiple
1717 companies that have been in operation for more than a century, and
1818 the craftspeople who power the industry have proven their mastery
1919 of techniques that have been passed down for generations; and
2020 WHEREAS, In addition to producing products of exceptional
2121 quality, these businesses fuel the local economy, create jobs, and
2222 attract visitors from around the world to witness the handiwork of
2323 the city's artisans; and
2424 WHEREAS, Through their dedication to the preservation and
2525 promotion of their trade, the boot makers of El Paso have elevated
2626 the craft and furthered the cultural and artistic identity of the
2727 Lone Star State, and the city's role in promoting the continued
2828 vitality of this time-honored and uniquely Texan tradition is
2929 indeed deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
3131 hereby designate El Paso as the official Boot Capital of Texas; and,
3232 be it further
3333 RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section
3434 391.003(e), Government Code, this designation remain in effect
3535 until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is finally
3636 passed by the legislature.
