| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, El Paso has long been known for its rich cultural |

| 9 | 9 | | heritage, dynamic economy, and distinctive traditions, and it has |

| 10 | 10 | | gained a global reputation as a center for boot making; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The city is home to iconic boot manufacturers such |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | as Lucchese, Rocketbuster, Caboots, and Tony Lama, along with a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | host of other renowned businesses that have contributed to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | El Paso's growing influence as a leader in producing premier |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Western footwear; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, El Paso's array of boot makers includes multiple |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | companies that have been in operation for more than a century, and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the craftspeople who power the industry have proven their mastery |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | of techniques that have been passed down for generations; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In addition to producing products of exceptional |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | quality, these businesses fuel the local economy, create jobs, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | attract visitors from around the world to witness the handiwork of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the city's artisans; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Through their dedication to the preservation and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | promotion of their trade, the boot makers of El Paso have elevated |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the craft and furthered the cultural and artistic identity of the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Lone Star State, and the city's role in promoting the continued |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | vitality of this time-honored and uniquely Texan tradition is |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | indeed deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | hereby designate El Paso as the official Boot Capital of Texas; and, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 391.003(e), Government Code, this designation remain in effect |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is finally |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | passed by the legislature. |
