| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Dudley Speed retired from the Texas Division of |

| 9 | 9 | | Emergency Management in 2025, drawing to a close a distinguished |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | career in public service that spanned 50 years; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, "Dude" Speed began his tenure with the State of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Texas in February 1975, when he joined the Department of Public |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Safety; working for the agency for three decades, he served in the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | highway patrol and criminal intelligence divisions; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, After retiring from DPS, Mr. Speed accepted a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | position with TDEM as the Midland senior liaison officer; in this |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | role, he supported the development and implementation of local |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | emergency management programs and provided assistance to program |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | staff, governmental agencies, and community organizations; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Through his hard work, dedication, and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | professionalism, Dude Speed has greatly benefited his fellow Texans |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and earned the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | hereby congratulate Dudley Speed on his retirement from the Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Division of Emergency Management and extend to him sincere best |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 30 | 30 | | prepared for Mr. Speed as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
