77 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
88 WHEREAS, Dudley Speed retired from the Texas Division of
99 Emergency Management in 2025, drawing to a close a distinguished
1010 career in public service that spanned 50 years; and
1111 WHEREAS, "Dude" Speed began his tenure with the State of
1212 Texas in February 1975, when he joined the Department of Public
1313 Safety; working for the agency for three decades, he served in the
1414 highway patrol and criminal intelligence divisions; and
1515 WHEREAS, After retiring from DPS, Mr. Speed accepted a
1616 position with TDEM as the Midland senior liaison officer; in this
1717 role, he supported the development and implementation of local
1818 emergency management programs and provided assistance to program
1919 staff, governmental agencies, and community organizations; and
2020 WHEREAS, Through his hard work, dedication, and
2121 professionalism, Dude Speed has greatly benefited his fellow Texans
2222 and earned the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may
2323 indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on
2424 the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
2626 hereby congratulate Dudley Speed on his retirement from the Texas
2727 Division of Emergency Management and extend to him sincere best
2828 wishes for the future; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Mr. Speed as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3131 House of Representatives and Senate.
