11 | 12 | | "Chivo" Davis was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 12, |

12 | 13 | | 1944, and he grew up with the companionship of a brother, Paul; |

13 | 14 | | after graduating from Midland High School, he attended The |

14 | 15 | | University of Texas at Austin and then went on to earn his |
---|
15 | 16 | | bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University; he |
---|
16 | 17 | | subsequently answered his nation's call to duty, and following his |
---|
17 | 18 | | military service, he began his professional career in 1967 with |
---|
18 | 19 | | Shell USA, Inc.; after working for various independent oil and gas |
---|
19 | 20 | | companies, he founded Davis Partners, Ltd., in 1978, and he oversaw |
---|
20 | 21 | | the business's growth over the succeeding decades; and |
---|
21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Davis also had a passion for ranching, and he |
---|
22 | 23 | | managed a successful cow/calf and meat goat operation in Bandera |
---|
23 | 24 | | County, earning a Man of the Year in Texas Agriculture award from |
---|
24 | 25 | | the Texas County Agriculture Agents Association in 2001; engaged in |
---|
25 | 26 | | his community, he served as a board member of the Midland Children's |
---|
26 | 27 | | Rehabilitation Center, Manor Park, Inc., Bynum School, and Texas |
---|
27 | 28 | | Commerce Bank-Midland, and he was an active congregant of First |
---|
28 | 29 | | Methodist Midland; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Davis was blessed with the |

30 | 31 | | love and support of his wife of 57 years, Polly; he took great pride |
---|
31 | 32 | | in their twin daughters, Jennifer and Shelley, and his treasured |
---|
32 | 33 | | family grew to include six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; |

33 | 34 | | during his leisure hours, he enjoyed entertaining neighbors and |

34 | 35 | | friends and spending time with his many dogs; and |

35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Although Ferrell Davis is deeply missed, memories of |

36 | 37 | | his enthusiasm for life, his strength of character, and his |
---|
37 | 38 | | devotion to his family remain to comfort and inspire those he leaves |
