14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Autry Stephens was born in Comanche County in 1938; |

15 | 16 | | he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in petroleum |

16 | 17 | | engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, and after |

17 | 18 | | working with various oil companies, he founded a sole |
---|
18 | 19 | | proprietorship in 1979, which transformed into Endeavor Energy |
---|
19 | 20 | | Resources, LP, in 2000; under his leadership, the company grew to |
---|
20 | 21 | | become one of the largest private oil and gas operators in the |
---|
21 | 22 | | Permian Basin; known for fostering a culture of innovation within |
---|
22 | 23 | | the industry, Mr. Stephens pioneered techniques for maximizing |
---|
23 | 24 | | production; moreover, he was an active philanthropist until his |
---|
24 | 25 | | passing in 2024, and his company supported such organizations as |
---|
25 | 26 | | Habitat for Humanity and the Museum of the Southwest; and |
---|
26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Through his tremendous vision, energy, and business |
---|
27 | 28 | | acumen, Autry Stephens achieved a rare degree of success in the |

28 | 29 | | dynamic oil and gas industry, and he is indeed a worthy addition to |
---|
29 | 30 | | the Petroleum Hall of Fame; now, therefore, be it |

30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas |

31 | 32 | | hereby honor the memory of Autry C. Stephens on the occasion of his |

32 | 33 | | posthumous induction into the Petroleum Hall of Fame and pay |
