78 WHEREAS, Peggy Case Worthington is being posthumously
89 inducted into the Petroleum Hall of Fame on April 10, 2025; and
910 WHEREAS, Established in 1967 by the Permian Basin Petroleum
1011 Museum in Midland, the Petroleum Hall of Fame recognizes
1112 individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the
1213 development of the petroleum industry or have served as worthy
1314 examples to their peers; and
1415 WHEREAS, Following her graduation from Arkansas State
1516 University, Peggy Worthington embarked on her career in the oil and
1617 gas business in the 1970s; after moving to the Dallas area, she was
1718 employed by such companies as Max Williams and Penn Resources; she
1819 went on to work as an independent landman before being hired by ARCO
1920 Oil and Gas and transferring to Midland in 1989; she later joined
2021 Samson Resources in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and in 2002, she returned to
2122 Midland to open an exploration office for the company; and
2223 WHEREAS, In 2005, Mrs. Worthington became a staff member of
2324 Bold Energy, eventually rising to the title of vice president of
2425 land and business development; during her tenure in that position,
2526 she oversaw the acquisition of more than 62,000 net acres across
2627 Texas and New Mexico, and she continued to assist with contracts and
2728 agreements after her retirement; highly respected in her industry,
2829 she was honored by the American Association of Professional Landmen
2930 as the 2013 Landman of the Year; moreover, she earned a sterling
3031 reputation for her negotiation and mentorship skills, and through
3132 her advocacy, she helped create opportunities for other women in
3233 the petroleum sector; she passed away in 2019 at the age of 66; and
3334 WHEREAS, A trailblazer and a champion of the oil and gas
3435 industry, Peggy Worthington built a legacy that will continue to
3536 resonate in the years to come, and she is indeed a worthy addition
3637 to the Petroleum Hall of Fame; now, therefore, be it
3738 RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
3839 hereby honor the memory of Peggy Case Worthington on the occasion of
3940 her posthumous induction into the Petroleum Hall of Fame and pay
4041 tribute to her life and achievements; and, be it further
4142 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4243 prepared for her family as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4344 House of Representatives and Senate.
