14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Following her graduation from Arkansas State |

15 | 16 | | University, Peggy Worthington embarked on her career in the oil and |

16 | 17 | | gas business in the 1970s; after moving to the Dallas area, she was |

17 | 18 | | employed by such companies as Max Williams and Penn Resources; she |

18 | 19 | | went on to work as an independent landman before being hired by ARCO |
---|
19 | 20 | | Oil and Gas and transferring to Midland in 1989; she later joined |
---|
20 | 21 | | Samson Resources in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and in 2002, she returned to |

21 | 22 | | Midland to open an exploration office for the company; and |

22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In 2005, Mrs. Worthington became a staff member of |

23 | 24 | | Bold Energy, eventually rising to the title of vice president of |

24 | 25 | | land and business development; during her tenure in that position, |

25 | 26 | | she oversaw the acquisition of more than 62,000 net acres across |
---|
26 | 27 | | Texas and New Mexico, and she continued to assist with contracts and |

27 | 28 | | agreements after her retirement; highly respected in her industry, |

28 | 29 | | she was honored by the American Association of Professional Landmen |
---|
29 | 30 | | as the 2013 Landman of the Year; moreover, she earned a sterling |

30 | 31 | | reputation for her negotiation and mentorship skills, and through |
---|
31 | 32 | | her advocacy, she helped create opportunities for other women in |
---|
32 | 33 | | the petroleum sector; she passed away in 2019 at the age of 66; and |

33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, A trailblazer and a champion of the oil and gas |

34 | 35 | | industry, Peggy Worthington built a legacy that will continue to |

35 | 36 | | resonate in the years to come, and she is indeed a worthy addition |

36 | 37 | | to the Petroleum Hall of Fame; now, therefore, be it |

37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas |
