77 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
88 WHEREAS, U.S. Navy SEAL Nathan Gage Ingram of Roanoke served
99 his country with uncommon valor, and his family, friends, and
1010 fellow Americans suffered a tragic loss when this courageous Texan
1111 went missing while conducting a mission off the coast of Somalia on
1212 January 12, 2024, at the age of 27; and
1313 WHEREAS, Special Warfare Operator 2nd Class Gage Ingram was
1414 among the members of SEAL Team 3 who were assigned to board a ship
1515 smuggling Iranian missile components bound for Houthi militants in
1616 Yemen; during the hazardous nighttime operation in rough seas, a
1717 member of the unit fell from the ship; SO2 Ingram heroically jumped
1818 into the water in an attempt to rescue his fellow SEAL, but both men
1919 were ultimately lost at sea; and
2020 WHEREAS, Born on March 22, 1996, Gage Ingram graduated from
2121 Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, where he played football
2222 and basketball and served as the manager of the varsity basketball
2323 team; as a young man, he endeared himself to others with his
2424 kindness, selflessness, and dependability, and he was active in the
2525 school's Young Life chapter for Christian youth; and
2626 WHEREAS, Mr. Ingram went on to earn a degree at Texas Tech
2727 University, and during his college years, he set his sights on
2828 becoming a Navy SEAL; he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2019 and
2929 completed the demanding SEAL qualification training in 2021,
3030 joining the ranks of one of the most elite military units in the
3131 world; over the course of his military career, he was awarded the
3232 Navy "E" Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global
3333 War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; and
3434 WHEREAS, Through his selfless commitment and immeasurable
3535 sacrifice, Nathan Gage Ingram exemplified the highest ideals of our
3636 nation's armed forces, and it is indeed appropriate that a special
3737 day be set aside to honor the memory of this valiant Texan; now,
3838 therefore, be it
3939 RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
4040 hereby designate January 12 as Nathan Gage Ingram Day; and, be it
4141 further
4242 RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of
4343 Section 391.004(d), Government Code, this designation remain in
4444 effect until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is
4545 finally passed by the legislature.
