66 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
77 WHEREAS, The City of Denton is recognized as the Halloween
88 Capital of Texas for its renowned efforts to transform historic
99 downtown Denton into an immersive Halloween experience during the
1010 Thirty-One Days of Denton Halloween, celebrating the season with
1111 much-anticipated spooky events and activities at over fifteen
1212 different themed locations around the city; and
1313 WHEREAS, The City of Denton turns into the premier
1414 destination for Halloween enthusiasts across the state, turning
1515 into a seasonal experience that brings together people of all ages.
1616 As over 660,000 people were drawn to visit their historic downtown;
1717 and
1818 WHEREAS, The Thirty-One Days of Denton Halloween evokes a
1919 sense of nostalgia, reminding people of cherished traditions such
2020 as pumpkin carving, Halloween movie nights, a pumpkin drop
2121 Blocktober party, and interactive storytelling that have long been
2222 a part of the holiday's rich history; and
2323 WHEREAS, By joining together for Thirty-One Days of Denton
2424 Halloween, the residents of the City of Denton and surrounding
2525 communities have created a popular Halloween tradition that is
2626 beloved by young and old alike, and this delightful month-long
2727 event serves as an opportunity to showcase the city and uncover
2828 their talented artists, seasonal treats offerings, unique sights,
2929 and playful spirit of the season further enhancing the festive
3030 atmosphere ,therefore, be it
3131 RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
3232 hereby designate City of Denton as the official Halloween Capital
3333 of Texas; and, be it further
3434 RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section
3535 391.003(e), Government Code, this designation remain in effect
3636 until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is finally
3737 passed by the legislature.
