77 A JOINT RESOLUTION
88 proposing a constitutional amendment to authorize the legislature
99 to provide for an exemption from ad valorem taxation of the amount
1010 of the market value of residential real property that arises from
1111 the installation in the property of certain energy
1212 efficiency-related improvements.
1313 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1414 SECTION 1. Article VIII, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1515 adding Section 1-m-2 to read as follows:
1616 Sec. 1-m-2. The legislature by general law may exempt from
1717 ad valorem taxation the portion of the market value of residential
1818 real property that arises from the installation in the property of
1919 an energy efficiency-related improvement. The legislature may
2020 define "energy efficiency-related improvement" for purposes of
2121 this section and may prescribe additional eligibility requirements
2222 for the exemption provided by this section.
2323 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2424 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 4, 2025.
2525 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2626 proposition: "The constitutional amendment to authorize the
2727 legislature to provide for an exemption from ad valorem taxation of
2828 the amount of the market value of residential real property that
2929 arises from the installation in the property of certain energy
3030 efficiency-related improvements."
