77 A JOINT RESOLUTION
88 proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature
99 to enact laws providing for a court to grant a commutation of
1010 punishment to certain individuals serving a term of imprisonment.
1111 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Article V, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1313 adding Section 33 to read as follows:
1414 Sec. 33. The legislature by general law may provide for a
1515 court to grant a commutation of punishment to certain individuals
1616 serving a term of imprisonment.
1717 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1818 submitted to the voters at an election to be held on November 4,
1919 2025. The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or
2020 against the proposition: "The constitutional amendment
2121 authorizing the legislature to enact laws providing for a court to
2222 grant a commutation of punishment to certain individuals serving a
2323 term of imprisonment."
