11 | 11 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Article V, Texas Constitution, is amended by | |
13 | 13 | adding Section 33 to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 33. The legislature by general law may provide for a | |
15 | 15 | court to grant a commutation of punishment to certain individuals | |
16 | 16 | serving a term of imprisonment. | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
18 | 18 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held on November 4, | |
19 | 19 | 2025. The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or | |
20 | 20 | against the proposition: "The constitutional amendment | |
21 | 21 | authorizing the legislature to enact laws providing for a court to | |
22 | 22 | grant a commutation of punishment to certain individuals serving a | |
23 | 23 | term of imprisonment." |
