10 | 10 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 1(a), Article VI, Texas Constitution, is | |
12 | 12 | amended to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | (a) The following classes of persons shall not be allowed to | |
14 | 14 | vote in this State: | |
15 | 15 | (1) persons under 18 years of age; | |
16 | 16 | (2) persons who have been determined mentally | |
17 | 17 | incompetent by a court, subject to such exceptions as the | |
18 | 18 | Legislature may make; [and] | |
19 | 19 | (3) persons convicted of any felony, subject to such | |
20 | 20 | exceptions as the Legislature may make; and | |
21 | 21 | (4) persons who are not citizens of the United States. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
23 | 23 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 4, 2025. | |
24 | 24 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
25 | 25 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment clarifying that a voter | |
26 | 26 | must be a United States citizen." |
