77 A JOINT RESOLUTION
88 proposing a constitutional amendment to authorize the legislature
99 to provide for a credit against the ad valorem taxes imposed on real
1010 property occupied by a person who entered the property without the
1111 consent of the owner.
1212 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Article VIII, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1414 adding Section 1-z to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 1-z. The legislature by general law may provide that a
1616 person who owns real property that during all or a portion of a tax
1717 year is occupied by a person who entered the property without the
1818 consent of the owner is entitled to a credit against the ad valorem
1919 taxes imposed by a political subdivision on the property. The
2020 legislature by general law may provide additional eligibility
2121 requirements for receiving a credit under this section and may
2222 provide a formula for computing the amount of the credit to which a
2323 property owner is entitled.
2424 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2525 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 4,
2626 2025. The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against
2727 the proposition: "The constitutional amendment to authorize the
2828 legislature to provide for a credit against the ad valorem taxes
2929 imposed on real property occupied by a person who entered the
3030 property without the consent of the owner."
