| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 8, Article IV, Texas Constitution, is | |
| 13 | 13 | amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | (c) The Governor shall by proclamation convene the | |
| 15 | 15 | Legislature in special session on receipt of a petition requesting | |
| 16 | 16 | the special session that is signed by at least two-thirds of the | |
| 17 | 17 | members of each house of the Legislature. The petition must state | |
| 18 | 18 | the date the Governor must convene the special session and the | |
| 19 | 19 | specific purpose or purposes for which the session is convened. The | |
| 20 | 20 | proclamation must provide for convening the Legislature on the date | |
| 21 | 21 | stated in the petition and must authorize the Legislature to | |
| 22 | 22 | consider the specific purpose or purposes stated in the petition. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
| 24 | 24 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 4, 2025. | |
| 25 | 25 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
| 26 | 26 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment requiring the governor | |
| 27 | 27 | to call the legislature into special session on petition of at least | |
| 28 | 28 | two-thirds of the members of each house of the legislature." |
