77 A JOINT RESOLUTION
88 proposing a constitutional amendment requiring this state to
99 observe daylight saving time year-round.
1010 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1212 adding Section 74 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 74. (a) This state shall observe daylight saving time
1414 year-round throughout the state.
1515 (b) This section applies to all portions of the state,
1616 regardless of time zone.
1717 (c) If a court finds this state is not authorized by federal
1818 law to implement this section, Subsections (a) and (b) of this
1919 section have full force and effect on the date the United States
2020 Congress enacts legislation that becomes law that authorizes this
2121 state to observe daylight saving time as prescribed by this
2222 section.
2323 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2424 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 4, 2025.
2525 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2626 proposition: "The constitutional amendment requiring this state to
2727 observe daylight saving time year-round."
