| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Adalixa Gómez Velasquez of Hickey Elementary School |

| 9 | 9 | | has been nominated for the 2025 Plano Independent School District |

| 10 | 10 | | Elementary Teacher of the Year award; and |

| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |

| 12 | 12 | | become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Gómez is the fourth-grade bilingual teacher at |

| 16 | 16 | | Hickey Elementary; a native of Honduras, she graduated from the |

| 17 | 17 | | University of North Texas with a bachelor's degree in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | interdisciplinary studies and a master's degree in curriculum and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | instruction with a specialization in bilingual education; she also |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | holds certifications in bilingual and early childhood through |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | sixth-grade education; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Adalixa Gómez exemplifies the passion, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all |

| 25 | 25 | | in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
