| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce is |

| 8 | 9 | | celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2025, and this occasion |

| 9 | 10 | | provides a welcome opportunity to honor this outstanding civic |

| 10 | 11 | | organization; and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Established on November 13, 1925, the Greater Taylor |

| 12 | 13 | | Chamber of Commerce was founded by local businesspeople who wanted |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | to make a positive difference in their community; Stephen G. |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Gernert was elected as its first president in December 1925, and the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | chamber was formally chartered by the State of Texas on February 16, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | 1926; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Local businesses have been the driving force behind |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the success of the Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce, and it |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | currently has more than 360 members from a wide range of industries, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | including finance, retail, transportation, and manufacturing, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | representing thousands of employees in Taylor and the surrounding |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | area; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The U.S. Chamber of Commerce recognizes chambers |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | throughout the country with accreditation for their dedication to |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | reviewing, improving, and promoting strong business practices, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | recognizing leadership and outstanding contributions to the |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | community, and supporting the principles of free enterprise; the |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce was awarded Five-Star |

| 29 | 30 | | Distinction accreditation in November 2024, placing the |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | organization in the top three percent of chambers in the United |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | States; and |

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Over the past century, the Greater Taylor Chamber of |

| 33 | 34 | | Commerce has played an integral role in the growth and prosperity of |

| 34 | 35 | | the community, and it is indeed deserving of recognition as it marks |

| 35 | 36 | | this special milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it |

| 36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 37 | 38 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Greater |

| 38 | 39 | | Taylor Chamber of Commerce and extend to its members sincere best |

| 39 | 40 | | wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
