| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Christian Gbaranen Birabil, an esteemed |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The son of Nathaniel and Elinah Birabil, Christian |

| 11 | 12 | | Birabil was born in the Gokana town of Barako in Rivers State, |

| 12 | 13 | | Nigeria, on March 22, 1955; he grew up with the companionship of |

| 13 | 14 | | five siblings, Mary, Barine, Nduki, Bariep, and Mene; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Birabil enjoyed a rewarding career as a |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | neuroscientist, and he worked at The University of Texas |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Southwestern Medical Center for many years before his retirement in |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | 2011; he left an indelible impact in his field through his |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | contributions to biomedical research, and his publications |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | continue to resonate in the scientific community; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A devoted father and grandfather, Mr. Birabil took |

| 21 | 22 | | great pride in his daughter, former State Representative Lorraine |

| 22 | 23 | | Burata Birabil, and he had the pleasure of welcoming into his family |

| 23 | 24 | | two grandchildren, Natalia and Nathaniel; his many hobbies included |

| 24 | 25 | | playing tennis, cooking, and gardening; and |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Christian Birabil lived a life that was rich in |
