77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, The Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce is
99 hosting its annual Lemonade Day Galveston County event on May 3,
1010 2025; and
1111 WHEREAS, A nationwide program designed to teach children
1212 entrepreneurial skills, Lemonade Day was first brought to Galveston
1313 by the chamber's education committee in 2012; each year during
1414 Lemonade Day Galveston County, children in kindergarten through
1515 fifth grade operate lemonade stands and are responsible for
1616 creating a budget, setting goals, serving customers, and repaying
1717 investors; participants learn business skills and financial
1818 literacy while also developing confidence and self-reliance; and
1919 WHEREAS, Sponsored by area businesses, Lemonade Day
2020 Galveston County includes kickoff parties, including those at local
2121 schools and youth organizations as well as a larger celebration,
2222 along with a lemonade tasting contest and a variety of other events;
2323 the initiative serves to unite Galveston's business and educational
2424 communities and to raise awareness of the chamber among area
2525 residents; and
2626 WHEREAS, Through its Lemonade Day program, the Galveston
2727 Regional Chamber of Commerce is helping Galveston County's youngest
2828 residents to reach their full potential and to become engaged and
2929 productive members of their community; now, therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3131 Legislature hereby commemorate Lemonade Day Galveston County
3232 hosted by the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and extend to
3333 all those associated with the program sincere best wishes for a
3434 successful event; and, be it further
3535 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3636 prepared for the chamber as an expression of high regard by the
3737 Texas House of Representatives.
