77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, The passing of Fred Joseph Mitchell of Lewisville on
99 April 21, 2025, at the age of 75, brought an immeasurable loss to
1010 his family and friends; and
1111 WHEREAS, The son of Andrew Joe Mitchell and Florence Mayho
1212 Mitchell, Fred Mitchell was born in St. James, Louisiana, on
1313 January 18, 1950, and he grew up with the company of 10 siblings,
1414 Robert, Jimmy, Norman, Katherine, Herbert, Josephine, Charles,
1515 Michael, Marion, and Peter; the family moved to Grapevine before he
1616 entered school, and the girl next door, the former Bobbie Jo Benson,
1717 would become the love of his life; and
1818 WHEREAS, Mr. Mitchell attended schools in Grapevine as well
1919 as I. M. Terrell High School in Fort Worth; baptized at St. Francis
2020 of Assisi Catholic Church in Grapevine, he was a faithful
2121 parishioner and served as an altar boy and usher; he and Bobbie
2222 Mitchell were joined in matrimony at the church on October 16,
2323 1971; and
2424 WHEREAS, A devoted couple, Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell were blessed
2525 with two children, Darin and Rhonda; their treasured family
2626 eventually grew to include two more generations; throughout
2727 Mrs. Mitchell's long career as an elected official, Mr. Mitchell
2828 was an unwavering source of support and encouragement; and
2929 WHEREAS, Mr. Mitchell was employed over the years by LTV,
3030 Engine Components, Home Interiors, Advanced Graphics, and the
3131 Lewisville Independent School District; while quiet and unassuming
3232 by nature, he was always quick to help others feel better by
3333 offering a kind word, a hug, or a little joke; he was an avid
3434 fisherman and loved to watch races at the Texas Motor Speedway; and
3535 WHEREAS, Although Fred Mitchell is deeply missed, those who
3636 held him dear will forever remember the warmth and generosity he
3737 brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it
3838 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3939 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Fred Joseph
4040 Mitchell and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
4141 family: to his wife, Bobbie Mitchell; to his children, Darin
4242 Mitchell and his wife, Tonia, and Rhonda Reinacher and her husband,
4343 Keith; to his siblings, Norman Mitchell, Katherine Dennis, Herbert
4444 Mitchell, Josephine Winfield, Charles Mitchell, Michael Mitchell,
4545 Marion Blueitt, and Peter Mitchell; to his nine grandchildren and
4646 six great-grandchildren; and to his many other relatives and
4747 friends; and, be it further
4848 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4949 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5050 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Fred
5151 Mitchell.
