| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Julio and Maria Garza, Gaby Garza is |

| 13 | 14 | | a junior at Edinburg North High and has distinguished herself |

| 14 | 15 | | through her exceptional talent in art; she has taken the AP Drawing |

| 15 | 16 | | course and received a score of 5 for her portfolio in the 2D Design |

| 16 | 17 | | course, one of the highest rankings in the nation, and during her |

| 17 | 18 | | sophomore year, she advanced to the statewide Visual Arts |

| 18 | 19 | | Scholastic Event and won the prestigious Gold Seal Medallion; |

| 19 | 20 | | moreover, she has exhibited her work to tremendous success at the |

| 20 | 21 | | Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show, where she was crowned grand |

| 21 | 22 | | champion, and at the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival, where she |

| 22 | 23 | | was named overall champion in the art contest; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Recognized as one of the most promising young |

| 24 | 25 | | artists of the Rio Grande Valley, Ms. Garza achieved a remarkable |

| 25 | 26 | | feat by being selected as a winner of the Congressional Art |

| 26 | 27 | | Competition for two years in a row; as the honoree for Texas' 15th |

| 27 | 28 | | Congressional District, she was chosen to have two of her pieces |

| 28 | 29 | | displayed at the U.S. Capitol as part of an exhibit that is viewed |

| 29 | 30 | | by millions of visitors each year; and |

| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, In crafting the ornament for House District 35, Gaby |

| 31 | 32 | | Garza is helping to further one of the State Capitol's most iconic |

| 32 | 33 | | holiday traditions, and it is a pleasure to join her family, her |

| 33 | 34 | | school, and her community in honoring this fine young Texan for her |
