| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Alief Early College High School in Houston has been |

|---|
| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was created |

| 12 | 13 | | by the U.S. Department of Education in 1982 to recognize campuses |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | that have demonstrated superior academic performance or made |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | notable progress in improving outcomes among economically |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | disadvantaged students; Alief Early College High School was one of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | only 356 public and private schools nationwide and 31 schools in |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Texas to have earned this impressive honor in 2024; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Established in 2009, Alief Early College High School |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | serves more than 400 students in 9th through 12th grade, and the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | school was previously named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2016; |

| 21 | 22 | | this exemplary institution has benefited from the able leadership |

| 22 | 23 | | of its principal at the time of nomination, Dr. Brandi Brotherton |

| 23 | 24 | | Ed.D., and its current principal, Matthew Skiles; and |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Through hard work and perseverance, the teachers and |

| 25 | 26 | | students of Alief Early College High School have established a |

| 26 | 27 | | record of scholastic excellence, and their outstanding efforts have |

| 27 | 28 | | been duly recognized with the Blue Ribbon School award; now, |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
